Since the launch of Joomla! versions 6.0.0 and 5.4.0 on October 14, 2025, Joomla! major version 4 (4.4.14) no longer receives security updates from the Joomla project.
The JoomGallery developers have decided to discontinue support for this retired J4 version within our JoomGallery 4 extension. This helps alleviate the workload on the small team of volunteer developers maintaining our gallery component.
With the release of JoomGallery version 4.5.0, expected in autumn 2026, Joomla 4 will no longer be supported.
We therefore urge users currently running J! 4 on their websites to begin the process of updating to Joomla! 5 or, ideally, Joomla! 6.
If you are required to remain on Joomla! 4 for specific reasons, you will no longer see new JoomGallery version updates in the backend, nor will you be able to manually install new versions.
For users focusing on the latest two supported major versions—Joomla! 5 and 6—nothing will change; updates for our component will continue to appear in the Joomla! Extension Manager in the backend.
Furthermore, we ask that you check the PHP version of your installation. JoomGallery 4.3 currently requires a minimum version of PHP 8.0.x. However, support for this PHP version ended over three years ago. We therefore ask that you upgrade your website to a newer PHP version.
We currently recommend PHP version 8.3.x or higher for JoomGallery 4.3.x.

Please remember to always perform and test changes and updates only after you have a working backup!
